Business Gas & Electricity – beware the contract roll-over!

Power companies most probably rank around the level of local government departments and banks when it comes to enduring their customer service, and apart from poor service they do little to endear themselves to businesses with the way they confuse everyone when it comes to getting out of a contract.

It is pretty much written in stone that when you are in a gas or electricity contract you cannot get out of it without paying a big penalty. When that contract comes to an end, each energy supplier operates different rules regarding termination that you must adhere to, or they will roll you into a new contract at, usually, an unfavourable rate.

Are you wasting business electricity whilst you sleep?

A recent report from British Gas has found that 46% of the electricity used by small to medium-sized businesses is consumed outside normal office hours, when their staff have gone home.

British Gas analysed the findings of data gathered from 6,000 smart meters installed in business premises across the UK. Smart meters provide ‘real time’ readings of gas and electricity usage and can be read remotely by energy suppliers.
